A writer, wandering.
a word and woman I am deeply inspired by::
“Poetry is the way we help give name to the nameless so it can be thought.”
-Audre Lorde, Poetry Is Not a Luxury
Hi, I’m Amara Amaryah
And I’m grateful that you’ve landed here. I’m a poet, essayist, travel and wellness writer and nomad, writing and being around the world. I am the author of the ‘Life Is In Love With Me’ and ‘The Easeful Place’ newsletters. My poetry has lived on international stages and in the pages of literary journals as well as in my debut pamphlet ‘The Opposite of an Exodus’ (Bad Betty Press, 2021). My life as a travelling artist revolves around communicating love and deepening our capacity to receive and offer it, via storytelling. When I’m not writing or holding space for others to express their visions and radical love stories, I’m usually in or by a salty body of water, envisioning and scribbling vulnerable things into notebooks.

What will you do with your one precious life, love?
Life often calls for bravery, i.e. honesty with self. I believe that life is sacred and that it is to be savoured. I believe in collective dreaming towards repair, fullness. I believe in the holy heart. I like to believe that our core beliefs - when upheld - can reorient us back to our essence. The final line from The Summer Day, a poem by Mary Oliver, reminds us of making the brave and necessary decision to wildly participate in life and treat it as ours.
This pivot takes gentle force, and relearning worth. If nothing else, we deserve to claim the invitation back to choosing. I’ve found that writing, wandering and noticing can be a way to return. Aligned community, softening often to the idea of worthiness, prayer, resistance, treating the written word as memory and living according to intuition have helped me incredibly, so I offer it wherever I find space.
I hope to remind you of your precious light and I hope to encourage you back home to yourself. How can I best serve you on your journey?
